Sympathetic Skin Response in Hemiplegics
Abstract
20 Hemiplegics with clinical evidence of shoulder-hand syndrome were investigated to determine the sensitivity of the sympathetic skin response (SSR) test for its correlation with autonomic dysfunction. SSR was absent 6 of 20 hemiplegics(30%). Statistically significant correlation was not found between the controls and the hemiplegics in latencies and amplitudes of SSR. These results suggest that SSR maybe not valuable test for detection of autonomic dysfunction in hemiplegics with shoulder-hand sydrome.
